What you need

Before you buy

  • An iPhone or Android phone with the TripoSIM app. On iPhone, add TripoSIM to your Home Screen.
  • Internet: Wi-Fi or mobile data. Call quality depends on your connection.
  • Notifications and the microphone allowed for the app, so calls can ring and people can hear you.
  • A free TripoSIM account.
  • You do not live in, or use the number in, a country under sanctions. Please check the rules on internet calling where you are.

How to install the TripoSIM app

Renewal, cancelling and refunds

Yearly plan that renews
You pay $100 for one year. It renews every year unless you cancel the renewal before the renewal date.
Cancel anytime
Turn off renewal in the app whenever you like. Your number keeps working until the end of the year you paid for.
No refunds
Payments are not refunded, including unused time or minutes. Two exceptions: if we cannot deliver your number within 72 hours you get a full refund, and any refund your local law requires.
Starts right away
Your number is set up right after you pay. Where a cooling-off (withdrawal) right applies, you lose it once your number is delivered.
If your plan ends
Your number is paused and kept for 30 days. After that it is released and cannot be recovered.

  1. Price and term: $100 per year, paid upfront. The plan renews automatically every year unless you cancel the renewal before the renewal date.
  2. No refunds: payments are non-refundable, including after cancellation and for unused time or minutes. The only exceptions: if we cannot deliver your number within 72 hours of payment you get a full refund, and any refund the law of your country requires.
  3. Immediate start: your number is set up right after payment. By paying you ask for the service to start immediately and you understand that, where a withdrawal (cooling-off) right applies, you lose it once the number is delivered.
  4. Cancelling: you can cancel the renewal anytime in the app. Your number keeps working until the end of the year you paid for.
  5. Your number: we rent the number to you while your plan is active. If the plan ends or a renewal is not paid, the number is suspended, kept for 30 days, and then released. A released number may be given to someone else and cannot be recovered.
  6. Outgoing calls: 300 minutes per month, to US and Canadian numbers only. Each call is rounded up to the next full minute. Unanswered calls are free. When your minutes run out, outgoing calls stop until your monthly reset date or until you buy a top-up.
  7. Top-ups: 100 extra outgoing minutes for $5. Top-ups are used after your monthly minutes, are non-refundable, and expire when your plan year ends.
  8. Incoming calls: fair use up to 300 minutes per month. Above that, callers are sent to your voicemail until your monthly reset date.
  9. Monthly reset: your minutes reset every month on the day you bought the number (for example the 12th). Unused minutes do not carry over.
  10. Voicemail: included. Messages up to 2 minutes each, up to 30 per month, kept for 30 days.
  11. SMS: you can receive texts from US and Canadian senders. Sending texts is not included. Texts from other countries usually cannot reach US numbers.
  12. No emergency calls: this number cannot call 911 or any emergency service. Always use a local mobile line for emergencies.
  13. Verification codes: many banks, payment apps and messaging apps do not accept internet (VoIP) numbers for codes. We cannot guarantee that any specific service will send codes to this number.
  14. Internet and app needed: calls and texts need an internet connection and the TripoSIM app, with notifications and the microphone allowed. Call quality depends on your connection. A phone that is off, offline or has notifications blocked will not ring; callers then reach your voicemail.
  15. Fair and lawful use: personal and small-business use only. No spam, robocalls, call centres, harassment, fraud or illegal activity. We may suspend the number without refund if this rule is broken.
  16. Availability: not sold to residents of, or for use in, sanctioned countries. You are responsible for following the laws on internet calling in the country where you use the app.
  17. Changes: we may update these conditions with notice. Your price and allowances stay fixed for the year you have paid for.

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly

Can I use this number for WhatsApp or bank codes?

Maybe not, so please do not buy it just for that. Many banks, payment apps and messaging apps (WhatsApp too) do not accept internet phone numbers for codes. We cannot promise that any service will send codes to this number.

Can I call countries other than the US and Canada?

No. Calls out go to US and Canadian numbers only. Calls to any other country will not connect.

Can I send text messages?

No. You can receive texts from US and Canadian senders. Sending texts is not included. Texts from other countries usually cannot reach US numbers.

What happens when I use all my minutes?

Calls out stop until your monthly reset day, or you can add 100 minutes for $5 anytime. Once incoming calls pass 300 minutes in a month, callers go to your voicemail until the reset.

Do I need a TripoSIM eSIM?

No. The number works on any internet connection: Wi-Fi or mobile data from any provider. As a welcome gift, you get $5 of credit to use on a TripoSIM travel eSIM.

Will my phone ring when the app is closed?

Yes, if notifications and the microphone are allowed and your phone is online. On iPhone, add TripoSIM to your Home Screen first. If your phone is off, offline or has notifications blocked, callers reach your voicemail.

Can I call 911?

No. This number cannot call 911 or any emergency service. Always use a local mobile line in an emergency.

Can I get a refund?

Payments are not refunded. The exceptions: if we cannot deliver your number within 72 hours of payment you get a full refund, and any refund your local law requires. You can cancel the renewal anytime and keep using the number until your paid year ends.

Does it work in my country?

You can buy it from almost anywhere, except countries under sanctions. A few countries (for example, the UAE) limit internet calling apps, so calls may not work well there. Please check before you buy.

What happens to my number if I stop paying?

If your plan ends or a renewal is not paid, the number is paused and kept for 30 days. After that it is released, may go to someone else, and cannot be recovered.
