Frequently Asked Questions
What is HomeLink?
HomeLink is a call forwarding feature built into TripoSIM. It routes incoming calls from your home phone number to the TripoSIM app over your data connection, so you never miss important calls while traveling abroad.
Does HomeLink cost extra?
HomeLink is an affordable add-on available with any TripoSIM data plan. Forwarded calls use your existing data allowance. Calls use very little data — about 1 MB per minute.
How do I set up call forwarding?
Before you travel, set up call forwarding on your home phone to the HomeLink number provided in the TripoSIM app. On most phones, you can do this by dialing a forwarding code (e.g., *21* on most carriers) or through your phone settings. Detailed instructions are provided in the app for each supported country.
Will callers know I am abroad?
No. Callers dial your regular home number as usual. They will not notice any difference. The call is seamlessly routed to you through BroadNet's network.
Can I choose which calls get forwarded?
Yes. HomeLink supports contact-based routing. You can forward all calls, or set up rules to only forward calls from specific contacts (e.g., family, work, VIPs). Other calls can go to voicemail as normal.
What internet speed do I need for calls?
HomeLink uses VoIP technology that works well even on moderate connections. You need at least 100 Kbps for voice calls, which is easily achievable on any 4G or 5G connection. A typical voice call uses about 1 MB per minute.
Which countries are supported?
HomeLink currently supports phone numbers from 18 countries: Lebanon, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. We are actively adding more countries.
What happens when my TripoSIM plan expires?
When your TripoSIM data plan expires or runs out of data, HomeLink forwarding will stop working since it requires a data connection. Calls will revert to your normal carrier behavior (voicemail, etc.). Simply top up your data or purchase a new plan to restore HomeLink.
Can I make outgoing calls with HomeLink?
HomeLink is designed for receiving incoming calls. For making outgoing calls, you can use VoIP apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Skype over your TripoSIM data connection. Outbound calling via HomeLink is planned for a future update.
