Quick Answer
Get a US number in an app. The TripoSIM US Number gives you your own US number for $100 a year, used in the TripoSIM app in the Philippines over Wi-Fi or mobile data. It includes 300 minutes a month of calls to the US and Canada, incoming calls, voicemail, and texts from US and Canadian senders. It's handy for virtual assistants, freelancers and families with relatives in the US. WhatsApp and popular apps sent their verification codes to it in our tests (Oct 2026), though some banks may still refuse internet numbers. It can't send texts or call emergency numbers.
Few countries work with America as closely as the Philippines. Virtual assistants in Cebu answer emails for US small businesses. Freelancers in Manila and Davao manage social media, bookkeeping and customer service for American clients. And almost every family seems to have a tita or cousin in California, Hawaii or New Jersey.
A US number fits right into this. Clients can call you like a local business, and family can call without international rates. Here's how to get one in the Philippines and use it well.
Why get a US number in the Philippines?
- US clients call you directly. No international dialling, no confusion.
- You call US and Canadian numbers with 300 minutes a month included, for client calls, US suppliers or support lines.
- Family in the US reach you easily. For them, it's a normal call within the US.
- Work and personal stay separate. Your Philippine number stays private.
Does it work on Globe, Smart and DITO?
Yes. The US number works over the internet, so the network doesn't matter. It works on any mobile data and on fibre Wi-Fi at home. Calling apps are widely used in the Philippines. For important client calls, use your strongest connection, because call quality depends on it. Please follow local rules on internet calling where you use the app.
Paying from the Philippines
You pay $100 once a year, in US dollars, with a debit or credit card that allows online payments abroad. Some e-wallet apps offer a virtual card that may also work, if it allows international online payments. Your bank or e-wallet may add a foreign-currency fee. The plan is yearly only and renews each year unless you cancel the renewal.
Time zones: working US hours from the Philippines
The Philippines is on UTC+8 all year. That means US working hours fall during your night:
| US city | Philippines is ahead by (US summer) | Philippines is ahead by (US winter) |
|---|---|---|
| New York | 12 hours | 13 hours |
| Chicago | 13 hours | 14 hours |
| Los Angeles | 15 hours | 16 hours |
A 9 a.m. call in New York is 9 p.m. in Manila in summer and 10 p.m. in winter. If you work night shifts, you can take calls live. If you work days, callers reach your voicemail, and you get a missed-call alert to call back when their day starts. Choose a voicemail greeting in one of 18 languages, including English.

- Allow notifications and the microphone: so calls can ring and clients can hear you.

Working abroad? Receive US calls without roaming
Many Filipinos travel or work overseas. Wherever you are, incoming calls to your US number are included in your plan and arrive over Wi-Fi or mobile data, so you don't pay roaming charges to receive them (fair use up to 300 minutes a month, internet needed). Read how to receive US calls abroad without roaming.
Honest limits
- No emergency calls. The app can't call any emergency number, including the Philippine 911 hotline. Use your normal mobile line.
- Verification codes: banks vary. WhatsApp and popular apps such as Google, Apple ID, PayPal and Upwork sent their codes to our US numbers in our tests (Oct 2026). Some banks may still refuse internet numbers, so check with your bank. Read will a virtual US number work for verification codes?
- US and Canada only. It can't call Philippine numbers.
- No sending texts. Clients can text you from US numbers, but you reply another way.
- No call centres or mass calling. It's for personal and small-business use.
