Quick Answer
Hajj 2027 (1448 AH) is expected from about 14 to 19 May 2027, with the Day of Arafah around 15 May and Eid al-Adha around 16 May. The exact days depend on the sighting of the moon. According to the official 1448H operations timeline shared by national Hajj offices, Hajj visa issuance starts on 28 January 2027 and pilgrims start arriving in Saudi Arabia around 8 April 2027. Registration in most countries has already closed, so if you are going, your next steps are your package, your medical certificate and your phone: install a Saudi Arabia eSIM before you fly, keep your home line on for bank codes, and bring a power bank for Mina and Arafat.
Hajj 2027 falls in the middle of May, a little earlier than Hajj 2026, and preparations started months ago. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has published the timeline for the season, and many countries closed their Hajj registration in September 2026. This guide gives you the expected dates, the key steps of the official timeline, and a practical plan for staying connected in Makkah, Madinah, Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah.
Before you book
Hajj requires an official Hajj visa and a permit through your country's Hajj office or approved operator, or through the official Nusuk platform for eligible countries. Dates on this page are expected dates. Always confirm the final dates and your group's schedule with your Hajj office or operator.

Staying connected during Hajj
During Hajj, your phone helps you with your group chat, your Nusuk card and app, maps back to your camp, calls home and, if needed, emergency help. The networks around Mina and Arafat are among the busiest in the world on the key days.
What helps:
- Install a Saudi Arabia eSIM at home on Wi-Fi before you fly. Your plan starts when the eSIM first connects in Saudi Arabia, so installing early costs you nothing.
- Keep your home SIM on for SMS codes from your bank, with data roaming switched off on it.
- Save your group leader's number, your camp number and your hotel address in your phone and on paper.
- Share your live location with your family or group in WhatsApp, and agree a meeting point in case you get separated.
- Send messages and voice notes when calls fail: on the Day of Arafah and at the Jamarat, they get through when calls drop.
- Download offline maps of Makkah, Mina and Madinah.
- Call home on WhatsApp or FaceTime: these calls are allowed in Saudi Arabia. See our guide to calling home during Umrah and Hajj.

Heat and your phone
Hajj 2027 falls in May, when daytime temperatures in Makkah and Mina are often above 40°C. Phones can overheat and stop working until they cool down.
- Keep your phone out of direct sunlight, in a bag or an inside pocket, not on a camp roof or in a hot bus.
- Use battery saver and lower the screen brightness on long days.
- Carry a charged power bank and the cable you need. Check your airline's rules for power banks in hand luggage.
- If your phone shows a temperature warning, move it to the shade and let it cool. Do not put it in a fridge.
