Before you go
- E-cigarettes and vapes are illegal in Thailand. You can get a large fine.
Mobile data in Thailand
- Fast 4G and 5G in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and other tourist areas.
- Coverage is good on most islands, but it can be weak on small remote islands and out at sea.
- Your eSIM connects as roaming on local networks, so turn on Data Roaming for it when you land. There are no extra roaming charges.
Useful apps
- Grab: rides, taxis and food delivery
- Bolt: low-cost rides in Bangkok, Phuket and other areas
- LINE: the most used messaging app in Thailand; many hotels and shops use it
- Google Maps: directions and places
Good to know
- The Tourist Police (1155) speak English and help visitors.
- Book rides in Grab or Bolt to see the price before you go and avoid haggling.
