Emergency numbers
Tap a number to call it.
Before you go
- Watch for pickpockets in crowded places in Rome, Venice, Florence and Milan.
Mobile data in Italy
- Fast 4G and 5G in cities.
- Signal can be weak in the mountains, small villages and on some coastal roads.
- Your eSIM connects as roaming on local networks, so turn on Data Roaming for it when you land. There are no extra roaming charges.
Useful apps
- Trenitalia: train tickets, including high-speed trains
- Italo: high-speed trains between big cities
- FREENOW or itTaxi: book licensed taxis in big cities
- Google Maps: directions and public transport
Good to know
- If you have a paper ticket for a regional train, validate it before you board.
- Many old city centres have limited traffic zones (ZTL). Cameras fine cars that enter without a permit.
